About ZAMKO

Who We Are

Our History

ZAMKO was officially launched on March 1st 2021 by Kurtis Davis.
Kurtis has been invloved with technology since childhood. "I have always been fascinated by all things tech. I remember teaching myself to use MS-DOS on our family's IBM pc with a 486, running at a blazing 66Mhz. One time, I got in huge trouble when I changed the AUTOEXEC batch file to not load directly into Windows 3.1. I'd rig by brother's boombox to be the amplifier for our NES, or make the Turbo-Grafx CD unit play CD audio through it without the rest of the device: things a 6 year old should not be doing."

Kurtis continued his love of tech, and it continues to this day. "From teaching myself BASIC-II programming on a garage sale Trash 80 [RadioShack Tandy TRS-80] to building PCs from spare parts in a cardboard box, I learned everything I could with what I could find. The high-school computer lab was great and luckily the teachers in charge would let me do my thing. Even going as far as to let me use an old server to install the Red Hat 9 linux distro. I was doing AV for our church at the same period of time, while shooting and editing video for various church and school projects."

With a long list of recommendation letters and references, Kurtis was hired at a major Audio Visual company while still in high school, operating the event AV services for the Palm Springs convention center, the Wyndham hotel, and other corporate hotels in the region. Later, after a mutual friend's recommendation, he successfully helped a home loan processing company in Irvine with data disaster recovery after the previous IT director sabotaged the system after being terminated. Having proven himself, Kurtis was hired as the replacement IT director, and remained until the company closed its doors. After that time, he focused on doing freelance IT work while going through college, until the final year. His last year in college was in southern Florida, where he was hired at another corporate AV company. "I was hired the day after I applied, right after the interview. The regional manager that hired me knew right away that I was the guy for the job, and I'm happy to be helping my now-friend with tech even today, having launched a website for his new venture just recently."

Returning to California, Kurtis was hired by a friend and past customer into the world of commercial insurance, as both Director of IT and an insurance agent for the better part of a decade. 2020 brought many changes, new family members, new priorities, and the crippling Covid-19 pandemic. Seeing the need, and capitalizing on passion and experience, he began the process to start ZAMKO Technologies
